Ferenc Híres

Ferenc Hirzer started playing football at Törekvés in 1913. In 1922 he played on the national team for the first time. In 1924 under the Magyarized name Híres, he took part in the Paris Olympics, scoring two goals. Overall, Hirzer/Híres scored 14 goals in 33 matches with the Hungarian national team.

After a decade of playing, Hires left Budapest and amateur football behind and moved to Brno to play for Makkabi. He spent only one season there and moved on to Germany Union 03 Altona Hamburg. In the 1925/26 season he changed club and country again, joining Juventus in Torino, Italy, leading them to a title in his first season, while he led the league in scoring. After two seasons he returned to Hungary and won a championship and a cup with MTK. He finished his playing career in Switzerland, then returned to Italy and worked as trainer there until his death.
