Starting from 1935 Lipót Klauber was a footballer of Újpest FC. He won the Hungarian championship with the team in 1938-39. He played in a total of 110 league matches in the Újpest team and scored 76 goals.
In 1936, as a member of the amateur national team, he participated in the Berlin Olympics, where he played in the single match of Hungary.
Between 1936 and 1938 he appeared in the Hungarian national team six times and scored four goals. In his first national team match, he immediately scored three goals against the Austrians. He played for Elektromos from 1940 and Lőrinci from 1945, where as a player coach, the former district team reached the second division.
He trained in Lőrinci for 11 years, while also working at the local power plant. In 1959, he was placed in the new power plant built in Pécs, where, in addition to his work, he first became the assistant coach and then the coach of the team in the first division.
