Biography

Imre Komora started his football career in the colors of Szombathelyi Haladás in 1959. By 1961 Komora had joined Budapesti Honvéd, where he remained until the end of his playing career. He played 278 league matches for the Kispest club, with his biggest success coming with winning the Hungarian Cup in 1964, along with four league silver medals, and one bronze. In 1964 with the national team he won a bronze medal at the European Championship and was a member of the Olympic champion team in Tokyo. He retired as a player in 1972, but remained with the Honvéd where he worked as a department head and then as a head coach. He and his team became Hungarian champions in 1984, 1985, and 1986, and also won the Hungarian Cup in 1985. For three matches in 1986 he was the coach of the Hungarian national team. Later he helped the career of his son-in-law, Lajos Détári, as a manager, and worked as the technical director of Olympiakos Piraeus in 1989 and 1990, winning the Greek Cup with the team in the latter year. In 1997-1998 and again in 1999, he became the head coach at Kispest Honvéd, and was also a club director.
