Biography

Midfielder Pál Orosz started to play football as a junior with Szentesi MÁV and Szentesi MTE at the end of 1940s. In 1952 Orosz played with Szegedi Petőfi and from 1952-66 played with Ferencvárosi TC. During his 14 years with Ferencvárosi, Orosz made 264 appearances and scored 79 goals. With Ferencvárosi, Orosz won Hungarian titles in 1963 and 1964 and the Hungarian Cup in 1958. Orosz was capped three times with the Hungarian national team, all those caps coming at the 1960 Olympic tournament and he scored one goal. Orosz was also selected to the 1964 Hungarian Olympic team, but did not play at that tournament. After his retirement from sports, Orosz worked as a physical education teacher. Starting in 1973 Orosz worked at the Hungarian College of Physical Education (now the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Sciences of Semmelweis University), first as a research assistant and assistant professor and from 1987 as a professor. Orosz also tried his hand in coaching, serving as the coach of Ferencvárosi TC from 1968-70 and head coach of El Jadida Casablanca in Morocco in 1970-73 and 1979-82.
