For most of his career, Miklós Páncsics played for Ferencvaros. A defender, he won three titles with the club (1964, 1967, 1968) as well as the domestic cup (1972) and the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup (1965), a forerunner of the present UEFA Europa League. He was first selected for the national team in 1967, eventually winning 37 caps. The team failed to qualify for the 1970 World Cup, but placed third at the 1972 European Championships. In addition, he played on the Hungarian Olympic team at the 1968 and 1972 Olympics. On both occasions, they reached the final, winning in Mexico, and losing to Poland in München. He left Ferencvaros in 1974, but continued to play for some years, albeit less frequently and with lesser clubs. In the meantime, he completed his law studies and then joined the executive board of the Hungarian football federation, eventually serving as secretary-general from 1982 through 1984. He later worked as a football manager, among others with Ferencvaros.
