Antal Vágó started his sporting career in Fővárosi TC and played for MTK from 1911-23. During this time, he played 180 games in the Hungarian First Divison and scored seven goals. With MTK he was an eight-time Hungarian Champion and two-time Hungarian Cup winner. Between 1908-17, he was capped 17 times. Vágo was a member of the Hungarian football team at the 1912 Olympics. The circumstances of his death are still unclear. According to some sources, he died in a concentration camp in March 1944, while other information states that near the end of 1944 Vágó was shot, and thrown into the Danube by soldiers from the Hungarian Arrow Cross Movement (Nyilaskeresztes Párt – Hungarista Mozgalom [NYKP]).
