Biography

Fariborz Esmaili was an Iranian footballer who represented several clubs in Tehran during the 1960s including Taj SC. Between 1964 and 1968 Esmaili made 14 appearances for the Iran national football team, scoring four goals. He was part of the team that competed in the football tournament at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, playing in the matches against Mexico and Romania. Two years later he won silver at the 1966 Asian Games in Bangkok after Iran lost 1–0 to Burma in the final. In 1968 Esmaili was part of the Iranian team that won gold at the 1968 AFC Asian Cup tournament with Burma finishing as the runners-up.
