Native Swiss Hélène Juillerat later called herself Hélène Cotard de Bauclas or Hélène Bauclas. She studied applied arts in Geneva and at the École du Louvre in Paris. In 1928 she became a French citizen. In 1935, she became a staff member at the Louvre. She later published crime novels under the name Cotard de Bauclas. She suffered from a lung disease for 10 years, from which she finally died.
