Massimo Brambati started his career at Torino in 1986, but it was only after a two-year loan spell at Empoli that he established himself as a regular first-teamer. The defender returned to Torino for a year, before a move to Bari in 1989, and the following year he helped them beat fellow Italian side Genoa to win the Mitropa Cup. Brambati spent four seasons at Bari, followed by spells at Lucchese, Palermo and Ternana, before winding up his career in the 1999/2000 season at Saronno.
After representing Italy at the 1988 European Under-21 Championships, Brambati was a member of the Italian squad that reached the semi-final of the 1988 Seoul Olympics. He played in four of Italy’s six matches.
