Andrea Carnevale

Andrea Carvevale was a forward who played for several Italian teams, including Avellino, Calcio Catania and Udinese Calcio. However, he is better known for playing for Napoli between 1986-90, and alongside superstar Diego Maradona. During his time with Napoli, Carnevale won two Italian titles (1987 and 1990), the Italian Cup (1987), and the UEFA Cup, when they beat the German club VfB Stuttgart in the two-legged final in 1989.

Carnevale won 10 senior international caps for Italy 1989-90, and scored two goals, the first of which was in a 4-0 friendly win over Hungary in April 1989. He was part of the Italian squad for the 1990 FIFA World Cup, when Italy finished third on home soil. He played in just the opening two matches, before Totò Schillaci took over for the rest of the tournament. At the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics, Carnevale played in all six of Italy’s matches. He scored their first goal of the tournament, after just three minutes of the opening match against Guatemala, which Italy went on to win 5-2.
