Midfielder Giuseppe Iachini started his senior career at Ascoli, and made his début as a 17-year-old in the 1981/82 season. He stayed at Ascoli until 1987, when he joined Hellas Verona, before a move to Fiorentina in 1990. After four years in Serie B with Palermo and Ravenna, he returned to Serie A in 1999 with Venezia for a season. After retiring in 2001 he went on to coach many Italian clubs including Cesena, Chievo Verona, Brescia, Sampdoria, Palermo, Udinese Calcio, Sassuolo and Empoli. He won the Serie B title with Chievo in 2008, and Palermo in 2014.
Internationally, Iachini won 14 caps as a player with the Italian youth teams, and played in five of Italy’s six matches at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, missing only the bronze medal match against West Germany.
