Biography

Striker Aldo Serena uniquely played for both Torino clubs (Juventus and A. S. Torino) and both Milano Clubs (A. C. Milan and Internazionale). He is also one of six footballers (as at 2018) to win the Serie A title with three different clubs. He won the title with Juventus in 1986, Inter Milan and 1989 (when he was the League’s top scorer with 22 goals) and A.C. Milan in 1992 and 1993.

He won the majority of his major trophies with Inter, including the Italian Cup in 1982, Italian Super Cup in 1990, and UEFA Cup in 1991. He also won two Serie 2 titles, with Como Calcio in 1980 and A. C. Milan in 1982.

Serena won 24 international caps (the first against Poland in 1984) and scored five goals. He played for Italy in the 1986 and 1990 FIFA World Cup competitions, and finished third in the second of those years. He played in all six matches in the 1984 Olympics when Italy finished fourth.

At 1.83 metres, Serena was a tall centre-forward, and because of his height, it is no surprise that he was a fine basketball player as a youngster.
