M. Chandran represented Selangor FA throughout his career. He competed at the 1972 München Olympics for Malaysia and was on the national team from 1968-74. Chandran became a coach, leading Selangor over three different terms between 1975-92. He also served on the technical committee of the Malaysian Football Association. In 2000 he was given the title of Datuk by the Sultan of Pahang.
