Slovak table tennis player Roland Vími began playing when he was 12-years-old and had success throughout his teens. In 1989, when Vími was 20, he became the Czechoslovak doubles champion with Milan Grman. He had wins across the globe including winning at the Australian International Championships in Melbourne. In Europe he played for clubs in Bratislava, as well as clubs in Hungary, Germany, and Austria. In 1991 Vími won bronze in the team competition at the World Table Tennis Championships in Chiba, Japan, before competing in the singles at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. In 2020 he was inducted into the Slovak Table Tennis Hall of Fame.
