Biography

Nico de Wolf started playing in the youth team of HFC Haarlem and was promoted to the first team in 1904. In 1912, he and his team defeated Vitesse Arnhem 2-0 in the final of KNVB cup final. De Wolf represented HFC Haarlem until 1915, the year when he retired.

As a midfielder, de Wolf had his début with the national team in 1910 in a friendly against Germany. Until 1913, he won five caps including two at the 1912 Olympic football tournament. He was a member of the Dutch team in the first match against Sweden and later in the final bronze medal match, which was won against Finland by 9-0. His last international match was a draw against Belgium in 1913.

De Wolf worked as an architect in Doesburg, where he realised most of his projects and also was in volved in the restoration of churches and other historic buildings. In this town, he was also elected as a city councillor for the period 1935-38. With his wife Catherina Wilhelmina (née Rutgers), de Wolf had three son and two daughters.
