Biography

Heijting played on the Dutch national team on 17 consecutive occasions, which was a remarkable run at the time. In 1914, he emigrated to France. When World War I broke out, he joined the French Foreign Legion, but was taken prisoner by the Germans in 1915 and spent the rest of the war as a prisoner of war.
