Biography

“Tiny” Kees Krijgh played his entire career for BVV from ‘s-Hertogenbosch. With that team, he unexpectedly captured the Dutch title in 1948. This earned him a spot in the Dutch selection for the 1948 Olympics in London. He played in both Dutch matches there, replacing the injured Joop Stoffelen as a midfielder, although Krijgh was more of a central defender. He would appear only once more as an international, in a 1950 7-2 loss against Belgium. With the introduction of the professional league, Krijgh remained at BVV, retiring in 1957. He would remain involved in football, coaching various amateur sides in towns near ‘s-Hertogenbosch. His nephew, also named Kees Krijgh, would later also play professional football in the Netherlands, notably for PSV Eindhoven (1972-79), winning two caps.
