Roosenburg started his career for ADO Den Haag, winning Dutch titles during the war years (1942-43). He then moved to the north of the country, playing for VV Neptunia (Delfzijl) and VV Sneek. In 1950, he turned professional for Italian side Fiorentina. This meant he was suspended from playing in the Dutch national team, as the federation only allowed amateurs to compete until the introduction of a pro league in 1954. Upon his return to the Netherlands, he played for lower tier teams VV Sneek, Helmondia ‘55 and VV Leeuwarden. An injury in his first match for NEC meant the end of his playing career. He briefly appeared as a coach afterwards. Roosenburg won a total of 9 caps, scoring a single goal against Ireland at the 1948 Olympics. His son André was a notable player in kaatsen (similar to pelota and the US form of handball), winning all four “Majors”, and he also played professional football for Cambuur (Leeuwarden), like his brother Claus.
