Biography

Wang Shi-Ting was a Taiwanese tennis player who played professionally from 1991 to 2000. Wang achieved a career-best singles ranking of #26 in the world in November 1993, and a doubles ranking of #39 in the world in February 1998. She played on Taiwan’s Fed Cup team from 1988 to 2000.

As a junior player Wang and Australia’s Nicole Pratt won the girls’ doubles title at the 1989 French Open. On the ITF Tour Wang won eight singles and a doubles title from April 1991 to May 1999. On the WTA Tour she won six singles titles but did not win a doubles title despite reaching three finals.

Wang competed in the singles at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics where she lost to Mary Joe Fernandez in the second round. Wang won bronze in the team event at the 1994 Asian Games and then won gold in the same event at the 1998 Asian Games. At three editions of the Summer Universiade she won four gold, four silver, and a bronze, including gold in the singles and doubles at the 1997 edition in Sicily.
