Roman Lentner

Roman Lentner was a Polish footballer who spent the bulk of his career with Górnik Zabrze. After playing a few seasons with Czarni Chropaczów and LZS Karlino, Lentner spent 14 seasons from 1956 to 1969 with Górnik. He was the first footballer with the club to play in more than 200 league matches, playing a total of 241 matches for the side, and scoring 75 goals. His club honours included eight Polish league titles (1957, 1959, 1961, 1963–67), and three Polish Cups (1965, 1968–69).

Between 1957 and 1966 Lentner played in 34 matches for the Polish national team, making his international début against Turkey. He was part of the Polish team that played in the football tournament at the 1960 Roma Olympics. After beating Tunisia 6–1, Poland then suffered back-to-back defeats to Denmark and Argentina, finishing in third place in their group and being eliminated. After an injury put an early end to his playing career Lentner worked as a coach for the Górnik youth team.
