Selima Sfar

Selima Sfar was a Tunisian tennis player who played professionally from 1999 to 2011. Sfar achieved a career-best singles ranking of #75 in the world in July 2001, and a doubles ranking of #47 in the world in July 2008. She played on Tunisia’s Fed Cup team from 1992 to 2006.

Sfar won 11 ITF singles titles during her career with her first victory coming in August 1994 in Carthage, Tunisia, when she beat Anne-Gaëlle Sidot of France. Sfar had more success in the doubles, winning 21 titles from July 1994 to January 2011, including winning eight titles with partner Stéphanie Cohen-Aloro. At Grand Slams Sfar never advanced past the singles second round but did reach the doubles quarter-finals at Wimbledon in 2008 with Yekaterina Makarova. Sfar competed in the singles at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and the 2008 Beijing Olympics but lost in the first round on both occasions.
