Football player Luděk Macela started his career as a youth for SK Černolice and Tatran Všenory. At the age of 16 he moved to Dukla Prag, winning the national title in 1977, 1979, and 1982. In 1982 he changed to SV Darmstadt 98 in the German Bundesliga for three seasons, and then retired. He returned to Czechoslovakia and became a youth coach at SK Černolice. Internationally Macela earned 17 caps and scored one goal. At the 1980 Moskva Olympics he won the gold medal with Czechoslovakia. Between 1997 and 2001 Macela was secretary-general of the Czech Republic Football Association, and headed the Referee Commission. He was relieved from his duties in 2001 and took over the training center for Sparta Praha.
