Biography

Fahrudin Jusufi played fullback for the Yugoslav football team at the 1960 Roma Olympics, winning a gold medal. Jusufi was an ethnic Gorani, a Slavic Muslim group in the Kosovon and Albanian regions. In his football career he played for FK Partizan, Eintracht Frankfurt, Germania Wiesbaden and FC Dornbirn, retiring in 1972. In 1966 he helped Partizan to the final of the European Cup, where they lost to Real Madrid. Jusufi earned 55 international caps and also competed at the 1962 FIFA World Cup when Yugoslavia reached the semi-final for only the second time in their history. He later went into coaching, mostly with SG Wattenscheid 09 in West Germany, but he also coached Partizan in 1987-88, and Schalke 04 and 1860 Munich in Germany. His son, Sascha, also became a professional footballer.
