Between 484 and 472 BCE, Kallias is said to have won 12 titles in the pankration at various Games. He later became a prominent Athenian politician. Pausanias notes that the pankration matches in 472 BCE continued until after dark, because the pentathlon event and chariot races did not finish on time. They were actually postponed and finished the next day to allow the pankration to be completed.
