Timon also won the pentathlon at Pythia and Nemea. Like all Elean athletes, he refused to compete at Isthmia. Several explanations exist for this boycott of Isthmia by Elis. Supposedly during the time of Herakles, several Elean ambassadors were killed by the Argiveans. Elis asked Corinth to bar Argivean athletes and when they refused to do so, Elis proclaimed a boycott of the Isthmian Games.
