Biography

Danièle Sicot-Coulon took up gymnastics at a young age and was highly successful as an adult, winning the French national all-around title five times, 1954-1959 except for 1958. Internationally, she represented her country at two editions of the Olympic tournament. In 1956, she had a best individual finish of 25th on the balance beam, while in 1960 it was joint-35th in the floor exercise. In the latter year, she was also 12th in the team all-around. She retired from active competition shortly after the Rome Games, but remained involved in the sport on the administrative side. A gymnasium in Allennes-les-Marais was named in her honor in 2003.
