Jessie Kite was a member of the Northampton Polytechnic Institute (NPI) Women’s Gymnastics Club that won the inaugural national team title in 1923. She was also one of the six members of the NPI club in the first ever British women’s gymnastics team, at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics.
Kite’s finest moment came in 1921 when she won the Metropolitan and Southern Counties individual title. She was runner-up to Dorothy Billson in 1924 and the following year again finished second to Billson at the national championship. Kite was runner-up in the nationals again in 1927, but this time to Carrie Pickles.
