Gymnast Anke Schönfelder finished ninth with the reunified German team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. In the individual all-around she came 71st and did not reach an apparatus final. In 1991, she won the individual all-around and balance beam national titles.
After her gymnastics career, Schönfelder joined the Alba Berlin Dance Team in 1995 and became senior trainer until 2010. From 1997-99 she was also a national gymnastics trainer in South Africa and Namibia. She also studied psycholinguistics and African studies. During the coronavirus lockdown in the spring of 2020, she created training units under the title Der Schöne Sport (The fine sports), which were published on YouTube.
