Daniela Maccelli was an outstanding 1960s Italian gymnast who served both the Italian Gymnastics Federation and the Etruria Club of Prato with pride. Representing the Tuscan club, where she was coached by Riccardo Agabio, Maccelli achieved national and international success. With Adriana Biagiotti in 1967 she jointly won the Italian title in Bolzano and, the following year, those two along with Gabriella Pozzuolo, were the only three female gymnasts representing Italy at the Mexico Olympics.
After ending her competitive gymnastics career, Maccelli became a coach at Etruria. In her hometown of Prato, she was a physical education teacher in high schools such as the Liceo Classico Cicognini. She also coached numerous athletes at both the Etruria, and Arcobaleno clubs, and her dedication to work lived long in the memory of her students.
