With the Dutch team, Van den Bos won the first Olympic medal for women in gymnastics. While many of her Jewish team members did not survive the war, she lived to age of 101, being the oldest Olympic champion at the time of her death. Alie van den Bos was team leader of the Dutch squad at the 1948 Olympics, and received the Olympic Order in silver in 2000.
