Biography

Olga Göllner was born in Cluj-Napoca, the daughter of a plumber. She grew up and attended primary schooling there, obtaining a degree in accounting. Involved in gymnastics since the age of eight, she won various medals in domestic championships in the 1940s and at the Romanian National Championships before her selection to the 1952 Olympic team in Helsinki. There, she placed 52nd in the individual scoring and second amongst her teammates with 70.07 points. Her best results at the Romanian National Championships were first in rings (1950), second in individual overall (1950) and third in parallel bars, floor exercise and balance beam (1950).

Göllner later became a gymnastics judge and married fellow gymnast and accountant Mihai Göllner. In 1988, they moved to Germany and settled in Fürth where she remained until her death in 2017.
