Biography

Marta Pustišek was a Slovenian gymnast. Pustišek was part of Yugoslavia’s team that competed in the all-round event at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The team went on to finish in fourth place. Two years later Pustišek won the silver medal in the team event at the 1938 World Championships. In 1939 Pustišek worked as a teacher in Ljubljana. After the outbreak of World War II Pustišek joined the Liberation Front. Shortly after the war started she was arrested by the Italians and sent to a prison camp. After an armistice was signed between Italy and the Allies in 1943 Pustišek was released before being recaptured by the Germans. Once the war was over Pustišek returned to Ljubljana and worked as a physical education teacher in a gymnasium.
