Bruce Sharp was an Australian gymnast, photographer, and artist. In his youth Sharp would build his own high bar and parallel bars in his backyard where he would train. Sharp would eventually be selected to compete for Australia at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. The routines the team had to learn were originally written in French, so the team learnt them from pictures. The Australian team finished in seventh place, with Sharp’s best individual performance coming in the horse vault.
For 50 years Sharp had his own business in commercial industrial photography. In conjunction with his work, he began painting in oil and acrylic, with his work being shown in an exhibition in 2014. Sharp was a life member of Gymnastics New South Wales, and was a torch bearer for the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
