Eero Hyvärinen was a member of the Finnish gymnastics team that won silver behind Norway in the free system at the 1912 Olympic Games. He started his gymnastics career with Kuopion Reippaan winning local and regional events. Hyvärinen excelled particularly on parallel bars and horizontal bar. At the time of his Olympic appearance, he represented the student gymnasts of Ylioppilasvoimistelijat.
With his wife Aili Sofia Hyvärinen he had one daughter and one son. He worked as a district forester.
