Born in Paraguay in 1942 Ramón Fraixedes went on to become one of the best basketball officials in Argentina. Fraixedes lived and worked in the province of Formosa, where he became a referee in 1970. By 1975 he officiated in his first international matches during a South American Championship in Medellín. His work took him all around the globe, including officiating in matches at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. In 2017 a sports centre in Formosa was named after Fraixedes in his honour.
