Goffredo Sussi was one of the most important Italian basketball referees. Before devoting himself to this career, at the dawn of the 1950s, he created the Libertas women’s team in Livorno, coached by Piero Benvenuti, with which he won the regional championship of Tuscany.
Sussi took part at two Olympics (1960, 1964) and refereed the finale game (Becchi Forlì vs Eldorado Bologna) in the Italian First League on 7 April 1968 along with a young referee, the eventual Olympian Aldo Albanesi.
