Biography

Roberto Peralta began his career as a softball umpire in 1972, spending more than 40 years officiating in matches across the world. In addition to working in his native Panama, Peralta also gave seminars on the rules of the sport all over Central America and the Caribbean. During his long career he stood in matches at the Pan American Games, the Central American and Caribbean Championships and Games, and the Bolivarian Games. In 1996 he officiated in almost a dozen matches at the Atlanta Olympics, including the final of the women’s tournament. In 2017 Peralta was inducted into the World Softball Hall of Fame.
