Biography

A member of London’s crack Northampton Polytechnic Institute gymnastics team, Sidney Andrew won the 1921 British All-round Championship at Bradford, beating William Cowhig into second place, with the defending champion Arthur Cocksedge third. The previous year, Andrew not only competed at the Antwerpen Olympics, but was also Northampton’s top scorer in the Adams Shield final, as they beat Birmingham to win the national team title. He had an outstanding competition, winning the horizontal bars, parallel bars, rings, and pommel horse.
