Biography

Edward Clough was one of the many talented Yorkshiremen in the Great Britain gymnastics squad at the 1908 London Olympics. Unfortunately the British team finished eighth and last in the all-round team competition.

Clough was a long-standing member of the Sutton Parish Church Athletic Club in his home town of Sutton-in-Craven. He also acted as an instructor at the club. Clough served on the committee of the Yorkshire Amateur Gymnastic Association and regularly represented Bradford in the Inter-District Teams Championship. In 1910 Clough was selected to represent the Bradford District in the Adams Shield for the British Team Championship. By occupation Clough worked in the silk weaving trade.
