Birmingham-born Henry Huskinson attended the University of Liverpool in 1910 where he was active in gymnastics. He trained to become an educator, and was a student teacher at a polytechnic institute near Battersea in 1911. In World War I, he served with the British Army Gymnastics Staff. He was later the longtime director and organiser of physical training of the Blackpool Education Committee throughout the 1920s and 1930s.
