Gymnast John Walker won the 1913 Birmingham and District AGA individual Championship. The following year he was in the Aston Hall team that narrowly beat Hockley Hall by one point to carry off the Association’s team prize.
Walker continued his gymnastics with Aston Manor after World War I, and in 1923 was a member of the City of Birmingham team that won the Adams Shed by beating Northampton Polytechnic Institute to take the National team title. Walker was a decorator by trace, and was also a gymnastics instructor at Aston Hall, and later a gymnastics judge.
