Biography

Sam Walker was one of 12 members of the Birmingham & District Gymnastics Association that helped Great Britain win the team bronze medal at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. He was a member of the Birmingham Dolobran Club, and he was in their team that beat Belfast YMCA to win the 1906 Adams Shield for the British Team Championship, and helped them retain it against Dunfermline Carnegie the following year. Walker appeared in two more Adams Shield finals, for the Birmingham City team in 1912 and 1913, but they lost to Northampton Polytechnic Institute on both occasions.

Like his father and brother, Walker was a cabinet maker by trade. He was also a keen competition angler.
