A true student of the science of the sport of boxing, René Doudelle went to the 1908 London Olympics as the French middleweight champion. Sadly, his Olympics did not last long. He was knocked out in the first round of his opening contest by Britain’s John Douglas, the eventual middleweight gold medallist.
