Terry Reilly

In 1960 Terry Reilly joined the Adelaide Archery Club as a junior competitor and went on to become one of the best archers in Australia. Reilly won eight national titles in the 1970s, including the Target Championships (1972–74, 1977), the Field Championships (1973–74, 1975), and the Clout Championship in 1977. At international competitions he represented Australia at four World Championships, finishing in the top-ten in 1973. One year earlier Reilly competed at his first Olympics, finishing 15th in the individual recurve event at the München Games. Four years later, he competed in the same event at the Montréal Games, this time placing 26th.

Following his competitive career Reilly became a coach, helping to develop state and national programmes. On the administration side of the sport he served as the CEO of Archery Australia, helped to organise the 1987 World Championships in Adelaide, and worked as the competition manager for the sport at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. In 2002 Reilly was appointed as the CEO of the International Archery Federation (FITA), and was later bestowed with multiple honours from both Archery Australia and FITA.
