Nils Voss was a member of the Norwegian men’s gymnastics team, which won an Olympic gold medal in the all-around free system event. He was born as Nils Repål in Voss, but he was only 2-years-old when the family sold their farm and moved to Tysvær and later to Sandnes, where he became active in sports. There, he changed his name to Voss according to his birthplace.
Voss was also an active football player, who founded Sportsklubben Ulf in Sandnes (now known as Sandnes Ulf) in 1911. He was part of the team and served as the club’s first chairman for six years. He later became an avid long-distance skier. He worked as a self-employed carpenter and cabinet maker, but he never married and had no known descendants.
