Prior to World War I, Daniel Norling won two gold medals with Swedish gymnastics teams at the 1908 and 1912 Olympics, both times together with his brother Axel Norling. In 1920, he was a member of the gold medal winning Swedish team in show jumping. Norling was captain of the 1st Logistics Company stationed in Hässleholm.
