A left-winger, Miguel Ángel Cascallana played for the Calpisa side from Alicante that dominated Spanish domestic play from 1975-1978, winning four league titles and three Cup finals. Cascallana joined the team in late 1976, and still played for them when Calpisa won the European Cup Winners Cup of 1979/1980.
Even before joining Calpisa, Cascallana had been selected for the national team, winning a total of 58 caps (scoring 41 goals). Among these was Spain’s participation in the 1972 Olympics, when handball returned to the Olympics after a 36-year absence. The Spanish didn’t fare particuarly well, placing 15th with just a single win.
