Klaus Langhoff was on the East German handball team at the 1972 München Olympics that unfortunately lost the bronze medal match, 19-16, against Romania. In 1970 he won a silver medal at the Worlds and also participated in the 1964 and the 1967 Worlds. Additionally, he was outdoor World Champion in 1963 and won silver in 1967.
Domestically, Langhoff played with Motor Rostock, SC DHfK Leipzig, helping them to win several East German Championships, and later SC Empor Rostock. With Leipzig, he also won the European Champions Cup in 1966. Langhoff later turned to coaching and coached the East German Olympic team in 1980, leading them to a gold medal. After re-unification he became a part of the national coaching team of Germany.
