Kerstin Mühlner

Forward Kerstin Mühlner was a German handball player who was on the losing side in the third-place match at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, when Germany lost 24-20 to the Unified Team EUN. She won the bronze medal at the 1990 World Championships with the former GDR and, after reunification, the silver medal at the 1994 Europeans with Germany. She won 210 international caps, scoring 426 goals.

Domestically, Mühlner played with BSV Sachsen Zwickau and SC Leipzig (later renamed VfB Leipzig). In 1988 and 1991 she won the East German national title and the German title in 1994. Also with Leipzig, she won the East German Cup in 1983, 1987, and 1996. In 1986 and 1992, she helped them win the European IHF Cup.

By profession, Mühlner became a graduated sports teacher. Her husband Frank Mühler was also a handball international who later turned to coaching. Their daughter Maxi also played handball in the German Bundesliga.
