Left-wing handball player Heike Murrweiss came sixth with the German team at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. In 1993 she was world champion and in 1994 European Championship runner-up. She won 72 international caps.
Domestically, Murrweiss played with TG Heilbronn, VfL Neckargartach, VfL Sindelfingen, PSV Grünweiß Frankfurt, and TV Lützellinden. She helped Lützellinden win the German national title and the European Cup Winners’ Cup, both in 1993. By profession, Murrweiss became a bank clerk.
